This moment, the moment The Doctor brings Vincent Van Gogh to the 21st centuary to see how worthy his painting are, will forever be one of my favourite scenes in TV history ever!
It’s the sheer brilliance of using one of histories most renown characters to prove that dreams can come true. It just stirs so many emotions when Van Gogh walks into the museum and finds his own collection hanging on the walls and being admired by all the people around him instead of laughed at and thrown to the side. And it’s hard not to be moved when The Doctor asks Dr Black his opinions on Van Gogh within ear shot of the man himself, and Dr. Black replies that he is “not only the worlds greatest artist, but also one of the greatest men who ever lived,” and speaks of him and his works so passionately.
Imagine, not only thinking that your dream is dead, but having no one who thinks valuably of you at all, only to come so many years into the future and find that your dream did succeed and that everyone thinks so highly of you, and that you inspire so many people…it’s just a beautiful moment in TV and a wonderful episode.
